Sales tax FAQs

Common sales tax questions

What is the sales tax rate in Mississippi?
The state rate is 7%, with some local additions (such as city tourism or special district taxes) and reduced rates for certain items. We’ll make sure the correct rate is applied to every sale.
Do I have to collect sales tax in other states?
Possibly. Since the Wayfair decision, states can require out-of-state sellers to collect once sales exceed an “economic nexus” threshold — often $100,000 a year. We’ll review where you sell and tell you where you need to register.
I sell on Amazon — do I still need to file?
Marketplace facilitators like Amazon collect and remit sales tax on most marketplace sales, but you may still need to register and file in some states, especially if you also sell directly.
How often do I need to file?
It depends on how much tax you collect. Mississippi assigns monthly, quarterly or annual filing — we track every due date for you.
